Frequently Asked Questions
What color formats are supported?
Our color picker supports HEX, RGB, HSL, and HSV formats. You can easily convert between any of these formats and copy the values for use in your projects.
How do I use the manual input?
Use the "Manual Input" tab to enter specific color values in HEX, RGB, or HSL format. The tool will automatically convert and display the color in all supported formats.
What types of color palettes can I generate?
You can generate 5 types of color palettes: monochromatic (same color with different brightness), analogous (adjacent colors), complementary (opposite colors), triadic (three evenly spaced colors), and split-complementary.
How do color palettes work?
When you click any color in the palette section, it becomes the new base color and all palettes regenerate automatically. This allows you to explore endless color combinations.
How does the Save Color feature work?
Click "Save Color" to add the current color to your personal collection. Saved colors persist between browser sessions, allowing you to build a custom palette.
Are the colors web-safe?
All colors generated by our picker are web-safe and will display consistently across different browsers and devices.
How do I copy color values?
Click the copy button next to any color format in the sidebar. The value will be copied to your clipboard in the proper CSS format ready to use.
What's the difference between HSL and HSV?
HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness) is better for CSS and web design, while HSV (Hue, Saturation, Value) is commonly used in design software like Photoshop.
Can I enter color values manually?
Yes! Use the "Manual Input" tab to enter specific HEX codes or RGB/HSL values. The tool automatically validates and converts your input to all other formats.
How do I create a color scheme?
Start with a base color you like, then explore the generated palettes. Click colors in the palettes to make them the new base and discover harmonious combinations.
What makes colors harmonious?
Harmonious colors follow color theory rules: monochromatic uses the same hue, analogous uses adjacent hues, complementary uses opposite hues, and triadic uses evenly spaced hues.
How do I choose colors for accessibility?
Ensure sufficient contrast between text and background colors. Use darker colors for text and lighter colors for backgrounds, or vice versa, to meet WCAG accessibility guidelines.
